Teachers' comments WTL

Comments from teachers

A sample of the comments from teachers in Cumbria, Lancaster, Birmingham, Southwark, Durham and Westminster:

  • Brilliant range of tasks that encourage children to develop meaning and use high order skills; also, activities which are fun and varied!
  • To all the teachers who contributed to the WTL scheme: it demonstrates that you have all been in the front of classes and you know how it feels to be looking for material to supplement topics.  Here, not only are the lessons well planned, well mapped out with progression and assessment (thanks) again, but there are opportunities for children not only to learn but to experience the faith in so many ways.  Thank you all and God bless.
  • The resources are accessible and challenging not only the children but also for the teachers' development.  The colourful and lively books, relevant to our own experience are great.
  • I was scared to teach RE in the nursery class but by seeing how much I can use from the Foundation Stage scheme of work you have made me a much happier teacher, thank you.
  • The resources are brilliant for Foundation Stage; keeping children so interested!  They love their RE – great variety of resources.  Theological notes great for focusing teachers and beginning of a topic or lesson.  The in-service was clear and helps to refresh memory!
  • Really, really useful!  When can you come to share this with the rest of the staff and inspire them! Head teacher
  • Well done!  A fantastic set of resources that will certainly enhance the teaching of our religion and strengthen the faith of our children.  I have used several schemes and this is the best I've seen.  Thank you!  Deputy Head
  • Impressed by the range of activities provided and the manner in which you approached the topics.  Support materials are excellent especially videos, music, website suggestions.  Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm.  Future consideration – multi faith.
  • A BIG thank you for all the child-friendly and teacher friendly resources.  The website and varied activities – art, drama, literacy, etc. give us great variety for our lessons, thank you.
  • This scheme can only draw pupils (and teachers) towards it and into it.  It is so beautifully visual, well structured and user friendly.  How much time do I have to sing (write) its praises!!! Keep up the good work!
  • This INSET was fantastic.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.  It was very informative and I love the resources available for Year 1.  You have all worked extremely hard on your scheme.  Well done and keep up the hard work! Thank you
  • What a lovely child-friendly scheme!  So easy to follow and very accessible!  A great asset especially to non-Catholic teachers like myself.  Thank you
  • It was wonderful and inspired me to teach my religion lessons with more love and understanding of God.
  • The website has super ideas to do with glossary learning; wonderful ways to be creative in all our lessons and to use our faith in all aspects of the classroom life, thank you!
  • Very wide range of resources and activities available to aid teachers and to inspire pupils to want to find out more and understand their faith deeper!
  • Thank you for rising to the challenge of providing relevant and high standard resources for primary schools to help bring our children to a deeper interaction with their faith.
  • Thank you so much for a wonderful day and a wonderful introduction to what looks like a terrific scheme.  To have such resources with wealth of activities with provision for Foundation Stage up to Year 6 is amazing.  We can't wait to get started!
  • From trialling the scheme in school, we already felt enthused and excited about teaching RE using the new materials including the website.  They have really lifted the teaching of RE in school and raised its profile as a core subject.  The materials provide excellent support, especially for non-Catholic teachers.  The pupils are inspired and motivated by the resources - RE has become an enjoyable, yet challenging subject.  I am looking forward to continuing to use the scheme and enhancing it with the excellent range of materials you have shown us.  You have all worked so hard and are a real inspiration.  Thank you.
  • Excellent response from all children involved in the scheme; teachers, parish priest and parents are enthusiastic about the books and the website; children's knowledge has improved; much more RE being taught.
  • Feeling very inspired by everything I have been presented with today.  Great material & resources; children from Year 3 have been very receptive and keen to learn; can't wait to get started throughout the school.
  • The text books are very exciting.  They grab the children's attention. The clear steps enable us to teach more about the Catholic faith then every before.  Great range of activities and clear theological introduction for teachers!
  • The day has helped me to see more clearly how to bring RE alive in the classroom and has given us an opportunity to see a wide range of resources and activities.  It was fun, interesting and enlightening. Thank you!
  • Our children deserve nothing but the best.  This is the best!  At last an RE scheme that is RE.  Thank you for not being afraid to be Catholic.  Today's INSET was 'inspired' thank you, Sister.  I can't wait to teach my next RE lesson.  The fruits of this scheme will, I believe, be far reaching.  Teachers, parents and others will also be helped by this scheme.
  • Today was exceptionally useful in introducing us all to the scheme.  It has encouraged me to reflect on my own teaching of RE and how I can make it more effective for all the children.  The scheme itself is truly wonderful. There is so much information and resources to make my RE lessons effective for the children.  I am particularly impressed by how child-friendly everything is.  I can't wait to start using it with my class!
  • I like the idea of reflecting on the Bible stories before teaching them so as to internalise their lessons so that we can teach them anew.
  • Thank you very much for the time and effort you have put into delivering the scheme to us today.  Having worked with the scheme for a term it has been great to be able to bring the teaching of RE to life for the children.  The children have enjoyed taking responsibility for their own learning which this scheme clearly allows them to do.
  • Three stars for the scheme – variety of tasks and activities; assessment; open-ended questions which really enable us to assess learning and understanding,
  • Wow! What an amazing amount of time, effort, energy and dedication!  These are very useful ideas and resources.  Thank you for making our lives so much easier.
  • Teachers' and Pupils' Books and website are excellent.  The scheme has filled a vacuum: it enables teachers of all levels of experience, background and security to teach the Faith in a meaningful way.
  • I have been using the scheme with Year 3 boys for a year.  It's lovely and the boys are really growing in their Christian/spiritual faith.  It has been invaluable in helping them to live Christian values and teaching them how to behave as Christians.  It has provided a wonderful opportunity to discuss issues, especially bereavement and bullying.  I am not a Catholic but I am a committed Christian.  The ideas in the books are not just confined to RE lessons but are integrated into our daily spiritual lives.  The interactive website is great fun – the boys love doing the 'hangman'.
  • Thank you for this new scheme.  It is such good news for us.  It presents very clearly our Faith to all the children.  I feel we have a tool to prepare our young people not only as the future Church but hopefully we will be more confident in passing on our Faith in such an exciting and positive way.  Having come anxious that we were replacing 'Here I Am' I feel overjoyed.  Thank you, Sister.
  • The Pupil's Book is bright, engaging and child friendly – the children love it and so do I.  The Teacher's Book has good solid doctrine which reinforces my knowledge, confidence and faith.  The website is great; the children love the interactive section. Can we add to it?
  • The Teacher's Book is informative and easy to follow.  It provides all you need as a teacher to teach the subject and assess the pupils – a real Godsend!
  • The Pupil's Book is colourful and child friendly.  All the pupils love opening the book to look at the illustrations and see what activities they have to do. The interactive website lends itself to great team games – the pupils love it, it's our favourite!
