Reflection - St John
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
Trust in God still, and trust in me.“
“I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.
No one can come to the Father except through me.”
“If you ask for anything in my name,
I will do it.”
“If anyone loves me he will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we shall come to him
and make our home with him.”
“Peace I bequeath to you,
my own peace I give you,
a peace the world cannot give, this is my gift to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”
“Make your home in me, as I make mine in you.
As a branch cannot bear fruit all by itself,
But must remain part of the vine,
Neither can you unless you remain in me.”
“Whoever remains in me, with me in him,
Bears fruit in plenty;
For cut off from me you can do nothing.”
“If you remain in me
and my words remain in you,
you may ask what you will
and you shall get it.
It is to the glory of my Father that you should bear much fruit.”
[John, quotations from chapters 14 & 15]
OPEN THOU MINE EYES John Rutter
Open thou mine eyes and I shall see;
Incline my heart and I shall desire;
Order my steps and I shall walk
In the ways of thy commandments.
O Lord God be thou to me a God
And beside thee let there be none else,
No other, nought else with thee.
Vouchsafe to me to worship thee,
And serve thee according to thy commandments,
In truth of spirit, In reverence of Body,
In blessing of lips, In private and in public.
